How to download YouTube audio
- Step 1
Copy the link
Open the video, tap Share, then Copy link. Links from YouTube Music work too.
- Step 2
Paste it above
Paste the link in the box at the top of this page and press Download. FetchBolt finds the audio and its formats.
- Step 3
Choose and save
Pick MP3 or M4A and a bitrate and tap Download. The file saves to your device.
What you get
- Formats and qualities
- MP3 at 320, 192 or 128 kbps, or the original M4A audio with no re-encoding.
FetchBolt takes the highest-quality audio stream YouTube offers and converts it to MP3 at the bitrate you choose. If you want the purest copy, pick M4A: it is the original audio, untouched.
Long videos are fine. Hour-long podcasts and lectures convert the same way; the file is ready when the conversion finishes.
- MP3 or M4A?
- MP3 plays everywhere, from old car stereos to smart speakers. M4A is ready faster and plays on every modern phone and computer; pick MP3 only if your device needs it.
Save it on any device
iPhone and iPad
- Paste the YouTube link in Safari or any browser.
- Tap Download next to the quality you want.
- The MP3 saves to Files → Downloads, ready to play or share to any audio app.
Android
- Paste the YouTube link in Chrome or any browser.
- Tap Download next to the quality you want.
- The MP3 lands in Downloads, where music players find it.
Windows, Mac and Linux
- Copy the link from the address bar or the Share button.
- Paste it in the box at the top of this page.
- Click Download: the MP3 saves to your Downloads folder, with nothing to install.
Troubleshooting and safety
The download doesn’t work. What can I do?
Check that the audio plays for everyone: private posts, age-restricted content and anything that needs you to sign in can’t be downloaded, and FetchBolt tells you if a track was removed or is region-locked. Copy the link with the app’s Share button and paste it on its own. If YouTube is limiting traffic for a moment, wait a minute and try again. Large files take longer to prepare, and the button shows the progress while they do.
Is FetchBolt safe to use?
FetchBolt runs in your browser: no app, no extension and no sign-up, and it never asks for your YouTube password. Files are prepared on our servers only for as long as it takes to send them to you, then deleted, and we don’t keep a history of your links. The only buttons that download anything are the ones in the FetchBolt card, next to each quality.
Step-by-step guides
YouTube to MP3 FAQ
What bitrate should I choose?
192 kbps sounds great on phones and earbuds and keeps files small. Choose 320 kbps for the best quality, or M4A to keep YouTube’s original audio without converting it.
Is there a length limit?
Videos up to 3 hours convert normally. Very long streams may time out; trim them on YouTube or use the M4A option, which is faster.
Does it work with YouTube Music links?
Yes, as long as the track can be played without signing in. Paste the music.youtube.com link as it is.
Can I convert copyrighted music?
Only convert audio you have the right to keep, such as your own uploads, royalty-free tracks or content the creator allows you to download.
Can I convert YouTube to MP3 on my phone?
Yes. It works in Safari on iPhone and in Chrome on Android. The MP3 saves to Files on iPhone and to Downloads on Android.
Is the MP3 better than the original?
No converter can add quality. 320 kbps keeps nearly everything YouTube sends; M4A keeps the original exactly.
Is FetchBolt free?
Yes. FetchBolt is free to use with no sign-up and no download limits for normal use. It’s supported by ads.
Do I need to install anything?
No. FetchBolt runs in your browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux.
Do you keep the videos I download?
No. Files are prepared on our servers only for as long as it takes to send them to you, then deleted. We don’t keep a history of your links.
